Blood Sweat & Tears

Celebrating 40 Years of Popular Music

A musical institution, Blood Sweat & Tears has left an indelible mark on the American music scene since 1968. One of the greatest horn bands in the history of popular music, BS&T's alumni roster reads like a Who's Who of the world’s greatest jazz and rock musicians.

As BS&T has evolved through the years, it has maintained its commitment to high standards by including in its current roster the most talented musicians available.

Starting out in Greenwich Village in New York, the band won world-wide acclaim, becoming the first in many categories: first band to tour behind the Iron Curtain, first band to have 3 hit singles from the same record, first band to combine rock with jazz, etc.

Racking up sales in the millions, BS&T earned multiple gold albums—there were no platinum plaques at that time—and Grammy Awards, including the most prestigious of them all, Album of the Year.

A band with a social conscience, at selected concerts BS&T awards the Elsie Monica Colomby music scholarship award to deserving students to help pay for lessons or to the music departments of schools to help buy instruments, as they did after the devastation caused by hurricane Katrina in New Orleans in 2005 when BS&T had the entire high school marching band join them on stage for a jam session—a night those kids and some very proud parents will never forget.

Though there's been many changes in the bands line up over the years BS&T continues its tradition of finding and showcasing the brightest talent around the world. Whether playing their greatest hits, or new arrangements of classic songs, The band provides a night you will never forget.

At all the band’s performances, the musicians are available to answer any questions, to sign autographs, and to talk to young people about the joy and importance of having found music in their lives.

As BS&T's longstanding audiences bring their children to the band’s performances, a new generation joins an existing wide demographic of loyal fans. Visit the band at BloodSweatandTears.com

Chuck Negron

The Miraculous Comeback Story of Rock-n-Roll

From a humble Bronx, New York apartment to success and wealth far beyond anything he could imagine, the Chuck Negron story is an amazing saga. For what could have ended on a deadly downbeat is today a wonderful story that gives us all hope and faith that miracles do happen.

While Chuck was with Three Dog Night they had a phenomenal 18 consecutive top 20 hits, 21 top 40 hits, 8 top 10 hits and 4 number one hits - not to mention 5 top 10 albums and 11 top 20 albums. “We were a self-contained band who performed all the music on our records,” Negron explained. “We picked all the songs, arranged them and were totally involved in production. We never had an A&R person or any record company interference. The band contractually had artistic control.” Few bands were as popular in concert. They pioneered stadium extravaganzas, prompting Rolling Stone Magazine in its 1972 cover story to exclaim “More Gold Than the Stones!” “Bigger Crowds Than Credence!” “Fatter Purses Than Elvis!” Some of their opening acts were the likes of Rod Stewart, Aerosmith, ELO and co-headliner billing with Led Zeppelin.

By 1975, two original members were unable to continue and had to be replaced. In fact, the sex, drugs, rock n roll existence, had taken its toll. Soldiering .. their last million selling single, ironically titled “The Show Must Go On,” the band released their last top forty hit “Til The World Ends” which reached number 32 on the pop charts. Both recordings were selected, arranged and sung by Chuck. Chuck Negron had a great career within the band’s career. He gave the group their first million seller and fittingly their last. Three Dog Night called it quits in 1976.

"I would have nothing without the people who cared for me and helped me find my way," Negron says. Chuck remains active with several of the organizations whose aim is to keep drugs out of the music industry. Chuck also spends time helping the addicted. Cri-Help in North Hollywood, California has been most important to Chuck’s ongoing recovery. "I’ve been singing, performing and recording for 50 years. I’ve always been grateful for my voice and my life as a musician. I look at it as a gift from God. It has afforded me the opportunity to touch so many people in such a beautiful way. Music has brought me joy, inner peace and comfort that I thrive on. I feel very blessed to be in the game again."

Gary Lewis & The Playboys

8 Gold Singles | 17 Top 40 Hits | 45 Million Records Sold Worldwide

Gary Lewis was about as close to being an “overnight success” in the recording field as anyone can get. And – just because it happens so seldom – it is always a special thrill when show business lightning strikes twice in the same family. The comedy antics of Jerry Lewis skyrocketed him to fame when he was just barely out of his teens. No. 1 son Gary had achieved comparable success in the music field… also at a young and carefree age.

The son of a famous father – in any field – is often faced with serious problems in finding and maintaining his own identity. But when Gary Lewis and The Playboys auditioned for their first job at Disneyland, no one there knew Gary was anybody but a thin drummer. The entertainment director of the park merely liked what he saw and heard, and hired Gary and the boys on the spot – much to their surprise. The boys were enthusiastically accepted by the audiences from the very first night, and as the word spread it was not long before they were playing to a packed house every night.

It was the summer of 1964 when Gary Lewis and The Playboys were discovered by producer Snuff Garret. Before long, with the producer/arranger team of Garrett and Leon Russell behind them, they took their first single, “This Diamond Ring” straight to number one. After their second hit titled “Count Me In” went to number two, Gary and the band proved that they would be a continued success. They followed with more Top 10 songs such as “Save Your Heart For Me”, “Everybody Loves A Clown”, “She’s Just My Style”, “Sure Gonna Miss Her”, and many more.

In 1965 Gary himself was Cash Box magazine’s “Male Vocalist of the Year”, winning the honor over other nominees Elvis Presley and Frank Sinatra. He was the first and only artist during the 1960’s to have his first seven releases reach Billboard magazine’s Top 10 on the Hot 100 chart. Along with his appearances on various popular television shows including “American Bandstand”, “Hullabaloo”, and “The Tonight Show”. Gary accumulated an impressive five appearances within two years on the “Ed Sullivan Show”.

With the reoccurring interest in oldies music, Gary Lewis & The Playboys are one of the hottest acts around. Gary Lewis, along with the Playboys, continues to tour and entertain fans across the country and abroad.
